Stage Fright

Stage Fright

Why is it that after hours and hours of practicing we get so nervous when we are about to perform? It almost doesn’t make sense. If we practice a lot then we should be confident that we are going to give a great performance. But stage fright can come up for even seasoned professionals. That’s right, even the teachers at Barrett School of Music can feel stage fright. Keep reading for our music teacher tips for getting over stage fright.

When our minds play a trick on us, and we start doubting ourselves. We get nervous, insecure, and suddenly all the hard work is thrown out the window. This can happen to anybody. It happens to students and teachers.

What’s the root of stage fright? How can we make sure we give a great performance? The answer is “BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.” Know that you are capable of doing whatever it is that you set your mind to. Be one of a strong will. Know that you don’t have to prove yourself to anybody in the audience. Confidence and passion transforms your sound into a beautiful performance. Lack of identity will destroy you, but passion and discipline will always make you shine.

The teachers at Barrett School of Music want you to have the best performance possible. During your at-home private music lessons, we’ll practice music of course, but we’ll also help you to believe in yourself so you can get over stage fright.
