Eric Stern recently moved to Miami, Florida from his hometown of Brooklyn, New York! Growing up in New York City, Eric had incredible music education opportunities throughout his upbringing. Eric hopes to bring a sense of fun and passion to teaching, as he hopes to give his students the immense joy that he gets from music every time!

Eric has been the jazz piano teacher for the Shalala Musicreach Jazz Mentoring Program for the past 4 years, where he gives private lessons and also runs a jazz masterclass every weekend at the Frost School of Music. He also has taught privately for five years and worked in Brooklyn with several youth groups while in high school as an educator. The experience helped Eric to realize his passion for teaching, and he aims to expand on this passion with the Barrett School of Music!

Started Music Career:

At age three, Eric’s parents bought him a toy piano. He began to learn songs by ear and also started basic classical training. From then, Eric slowly began to concentrate on jazz until high school, when he joined a myriad of youth programs in the city.


Eric is currently studying at the prestigious Frost School of Music, University of Miami, as a Jazz Piano Performance major with a Political Science minor.

Favorite Aspect of Teaching:

Eric loves to share the passion and joy that he gets from music with kids, and watching them grow through music is a treasure he will always cherish! He also enjoys the relationships he gets to create with kids as he teaches them.


 Eric has performed at many venues: the Adrienne Arsht Center, Pinecrest Gardens, Le Chat Noir, WDNA, and many other places. He has also performed at prestigious venues like Birdland, Chelsea Table + Stage, Rockwood Music Hall, and more! He has also performed overseas in Cuba, the Netherlands, and Italy.
