Background:

Henry started playing drums in elementary school when he joined the school’s concert band. Throughout middle and high school Henry found a passion for jazz music, performing with countless big bands and small jazz groups. Henry currently attends the Frost School of Music where he is working towards his degree in Jazz Performance! He is active in the Miami jazz scene, performing with the Frost Concert Jazz Band, as well as a multitude of student-led and professional small groups. He looks forward to bringing his passion for jazz music and drums to his students.

Music Career:

Henry started playing drums at the young age of 10, exclusively playing in a concert band at his elementary school! He started playing drums in a jazz band in 6th grade and he fell in love with performing jazz music. In high school, Henry joined the Bellevue College Jazz Band and attended a myriad of summer jazz camps.

Education:

Henry is currently studying at the prestigious Frost School of Music, University of Miami as a Jazz Drumset Performance major.

Favorite Aspect of Teaching:

Henry loves developing personal connections with students. He loves watching his students develop as musicians and as people, gaining important music and life skills!

Performance:

Over the past few years, Henry has performed at many well-known venues in Miami, including the Adrienne Arsht Center and Pinecrest Gardens! While in high school, he performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theatre as part of the Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival. In addition, Henry has performed overseas at several famous jazz festivals including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Jazz a Vienne in France, and the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands.
