Background:
James Long was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2010, James enrolled at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania as a music business major. He graduated in the Spring of 2014. Afterwards, Long regularly sang tenor at his local church and played viola with the church orchestra. In 2017, Long became the music teacher at St. Elizabeth’s School, a school for students with special needs in Baltimore. Next, in 2019, Long released his first EP of original songs that he wrote as a singer-songwriter. Then, in March 2020, Long transitioned to work as the music teacher at a public elementary school in Baltimore County.
In Spring 2021, James Long graduated from Towson University with his Master of Science in Music Education. Currently, he is seeking students to teach cello, viola and violin classes in Miami. He lives in Coral Gables with his wife and 2 pet rats.
Started Music Career:
James started playing music when he was 10 years old. First, he took up the violin in 5th grade and played in school orchestra. In 11th grade, due to a need in the high school orchestra, Long switched to the viola and started to take private lessons with a Baltimore Symphony Orchestra retired violist.

BA in Music Business and MS in Music Education.

Favorite aspect of teaching:
James loves seeing students succeed and perform in front of others. The feeling of a student to take what they learned and then share their music with others is what it’s all about. This is the most rewarding part of teaching violin classes in Miami.
Performance:
James performed in high school orchestra and was first chair violist. Also, he performed in his college orchestra. Furthermore, he likes to perform his own music at local open mics. Plus, he also likes to sing and perform at his church, in addition to teaching violin classes in Miami.
