Seongwoo Jeong

Seongwoo Jeong began playing the violin at the age of six and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Korea National University of Arts. He then moved to the United States, where he earned a master’s degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He is particularly interested in researching how youth music impacts children’s lives and is dedicated to helping young learners enjoy playing their instruments for years to come. Mr. Jeong is a dedicated artist and educator with a wealth of professional experience. He serves as the Artistic Director for the San Francisco International Young Artist Music Festival and has taken on various adjudicator roles, including for the America Youth Talent International Music Competition in 2024, where he evaluated viola performances, and as a string adjudicator for the Young Talent Student Music Contest in the same year. Additionally, he has been a viola adjudicator and Chief Judge for the San Francisco International Young Artist Music Competition in both 2023 and 2024, and a string adjudicator for the Canada Virtuoso Young Artist Music Competition in 2023. His commitment to fostering young talent is further demonstrated by his participation as a guest artist and chamber coach at the Hawaii Chamber Music Festival in 2023. Mr. Jeong is a distinguished musician with an impressive record of achievements in international music competitions. He was the Grand Prize Winner at the Vancouver Gospel Music Festival in Canada in 2024, where he received prize money, and also secured the Grand Prize and Audience Award at the Rocky Mountain Music Competition in 2022. In 2021, he won 1st Prize and the Grace Meng “US House of Representatives Award” at the New York International Music Competition. His accolades also include the Grand Prize, prize money, and the HeeGon Kim “Korea Member of the National Assembly Award” at the GNMC in Korea in 2020, as well as the Outstanding Performance Prize at the 2013 Asia String Music Competition in Taiwan. Additionally, Mr. Jeong has performed his “Seongwoo Recital” ten times across South Korea, Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Notably, he has had the honor of performing at the Blue House for Korean President Moon and for the King and Queen of Belgium in 2019.
