Marcos Abril is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music producer from Havana, Cuba, with over a decade of formal training at two of the country's most prestigious conservatories. He began his musical education at the Manuel Saumell Elementary Conservatory, one of only four elite conservatories in Havana, before going on to specialize in cello performance at the National School of the Arts (ENA), Cuba's premier institution for artistic education, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class.
While cello remained his principal instrument, Marcos developed strong parallel skills in piano and both acoustic and electric guitar throughout his training, and continues to teach and perform across all three. Throughout his conservatory years, Marcos performed extensively with chamber orchestras and the ENA Symphony Orchestra, and earned First Prize in Composition at the José Martí Prize as well as recognition in national level cello competitions.
Before relocating to Miami, Marcos taught cello and tutored harmony and music theory at ENA, guiding students through repertoire preparation and technical development. His background also spans music production and sound design, and he brings that same range, from classical repertoire on cello, piano, and guitar to modern production techniques, into a teaching style focused on building well rounded musicianship.
